How good are community gardens?!
Since Covid created micro communities due to restrictions in travelling beyond our backyards, we’ve been witnessing a surge in community gardens springing up all across the Illawarra, with people of all ages and backgrounds getting stuck into digging up dirt in their neighbourhood – in a good way!
With more people working from home and craving time outside in nature, community gardens are flourishing as social hubs with seedlings of all sorts now giving back in more ways than one.
We created our own (complete with treehouse, naturally), which is ever evolving and we love spending time in with the kids. However our local Woonona Community Garden is coming along nicely and the people there are legends – get involved, you won’t regret it.

Make a day of it and go and see ‘the pros’ at Green Connect Farm, of which we are proud sponsors – be inspired and take the kids along for a fun few hours. See more and book at green-connect.com.au/visit/farm-tours/.
